Job Summary
The Winemaker / Assistant Winemaker is responsible for coordinating the daily winemaking operations at the company and takes lead in the process of keeping winemaking departments organized and capable to accomplish company goals.

• Facilitate and create the shipping and receiving processes and work order forms;
• Work closely with Head Winemaker to plan and create a diverse portfolio of wines;
• Assist in the coordination and process of making all wines in the facility when demands are high in the company (harvest);
• Coordinate with Operations Manager in bottling processes;
• Lead and assist in the process of preparing wine for bottling;
• Create work orders for bottling;
• Oversee Enologist and person supervisory responsibilities such as process time off requests, performance management, and mentorship;
• Attend managerial/leadership meetings and communicate appropriate information to staff as well as complete supervisory responsibilities;
• Coordinate and schedule bottling trials with Enologists and Lab staff
• In conjunction with lab staff, ensure that samples are prepared and shipped out in a timely manner;
• Communicate with Cellar Master to ensure that work orders are understood and completed in a timely fashion;
Participate in tastings and meetings with clients and potential customers.

Summary of Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in a wine science, chemistry, viticulture, enology or related field;
• Minimum of five years performing work in winemaking;
• General knowledge of working on a computer and working with Microsoft Office Suite;
• General knowledge in the use of a wine tracking database;
• Prior supervisory / leadership experience;
• Able to organize, review, and interpret data on many spreadsheets;
• Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written, in order to effectively and communicate in person and construct professional emails free of grammar errors to staff and clients;
Physical Requirements Necessary on a Regular Basis
• Position primarily performs responsibilities while sitting a desk and computer, but will periodically require walking and being on one’s feet through cellar, barrel room, lab, and bottling line;
• Required to possess the color vision necessary to judge and evaluate wine color;
• Manual dexterity and full arm and upper body range of motion including full use of hands and fingers as well as leg and lower body range of motion for walking, standing, crouching, and stooping;
• Speech and hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication;
• Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor and looking at data on spreadsheets.
